In the Beginning 

 

On December 6, 1941, after a slew of inventions regarding nuclear fission, the outbreak of yet another world war, and convincing letter from none other than Albert Einstein, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the go-ahead for the Manhattan Engineering district to begin construction and research on the weaponization of this emerging technology. The group would go down in history as "The Manhattan Project" for a creation that changed the world: The atom bomb.
