POLITICAL A-BOMB

 

The Atomic bombs of WWII launched us into a new era, destroying the old in the process. The bomb not only had an impressive human impact with it's destruction, but political as  well. The atomic bomb brought a quick end to WWII, establishing the USA as the new world power in the process. That however, was not the half of the impact.

In creating such a powerful weapon, fear naturally was created as well. Some people argue that the bombs "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" were dropped partly, if not soley, for the purpose of intimidation. More than a few people claim that it wasn't meant so much to bring a close the near confirmed victory in japan as it was to show power to the soviets. Either way, they suceeded in both. The use of the atomic bombs launched us into an arms race with the Soviet union and ultimately the cold war. People still have to worry about controls over said nuclear technology around the world; because of WWII, warfare will never be the same.
