Refrain from Using Fertilizers and Pesticides
TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!

When you leave a room, shut off the lights. Also, unplug appliances when you are done using or charging them.

It is an illusion that either of these products is helpful at all. Not only will they immediately harm your local wildlife, the run off will devastate aquatic communities miles away. These chemicals have been linked to not only the death of millions of honey bee colonies, but also algae blooms and deformations in young creatures like frogs.

Buy locally grown foods. Buying local will help both yourself and the environment. Locally grown foods usually more fresh and are far less likely to be  coated in pesticides and genetically modified. On top of that, it saves having several trucks and planes from having it flown to you which is, as you can imagine, a huge waste of fuels and source of pollutants.

The three "R"s. Reuse things that still have life in them or donate them to a somebody who can get use out of them. Reduce your waste. Ask why you need something before you buy it. Is it necessary? If it's simply a trinket that will be forgotten in a week, don't waste your money or our resources. Use glass or plastic ware rather than one-time-use plates and cups. Don't forget to recycle! Papers, plastics, and metals can all be reused so don't just throw them out!
